A laminar flow booth is used to protect sensitive products and processes from airborne particulate. The HEPA filtered unidirectional down flow of air ensures that only extremely clean air passes down over the process. This not only means that the air will be free of any particles shed from operatives, but it also means that any particles generated from the process will be pushed out and away - keeping it contamination free.
What is laminar flow?
Laminar Flow Definition: Laminar flow is where a fluid flows in one direction, with no interruptions from turbulence.
In the case of a laminar flow unit, clean air has a unidirectional down flow from the face of the fan filter unit (see laminar flow diagram above). The accurate terms to describe these units are unidirectional airflow cabinet and down flow booth; however laminar flow cabinet or booth is the cleanroom industry's preferred term.
